Snow

So it took nearly the entire winter but it has finally snowed (I don't count the previous piddly snow falls). Took some pics from my window up on the 10th floor. Roads look kind of meh, they where plowing last night but seem to have stopped. At least I get a snow day out of it.

A note about this site's name

So my site is called Kijou (an approximation of pronouncement is KEY-JEW, it's not correct but it works), which is a Japanese word that due to the oddness of their language can mean a number of different things depending on characters used to write it. The meaning I picked it for was Perilous Castle, kind of nerdy I know. And at the time the site only housed a forum for playing DnD and Rifts while at work anyway so it seemed to fit.

But the bulk of the other meanings of Kijou seem to arise from its being similar to our way of saying on top of. So most of it's meanings in general Japanese would be things like, "on the desk" or "on a horse" or the more amusing use of "cowgirl style position".

So yes it's a odd word that in English means nothing and in Japanese it means a hand full of mundane things and one amusing one.

This is why you never get an Asian tattoo.

Selling stuff

UPDATE: Currently put these things on hold, will update again once they are available.

So I've been meaning to unload some of the books I've been carrying around and so far I've found two decent places to list stuff (other than craigslist, but I'd rather mail stuff than have to meet people), half.com and animetraders.com

So far I just have some manga listed to test out the services.

Jing King of Bandits Vol 1-4

Hellsing Vol 1-6 (I have 7 and 8 but had trouble listing them on half.com)
Gunslinger Girl Vol 1-3
Warriors of Tao Vol 1
Megatokyo Vol 3
Click here for all items I have on half.com

So if any one stumbles across this and wants some manga, you know where to go.

New jobs

So making my first post from my new job...should probably be working and not doing this, but it's slow today. Its another customer service job but the company is pretty laid back so that works (jeans yay).

And that's about it just another 'hey i'm not dead' post.

Arlington

Nothing terribly interesting going on, been looking for work here in the Arlington area, some tech stuff but same old issues with that no degree and no supervisory experience so no one is too interested in me. Though it looks like I might be getting a job dog walking, which amusingly pays about as much as I'd make working at walmart again, which given the choice I'd rather spend my days hanging out with dogs by myself than dealing with the general public at walmart.

nomad

So just another of my standard quarterly updates, not sure why I even have this setup as a blog since I don't post more than 2-4 times a year, but anyway. Seems that being the nomad that I am I will be on the move again, this time to Virginia. Which at least it's not as warm as Florida though unfortunately not as cool as Pennsylvania either.

Oh well least it's in the right direction.

kinda odd

So friday night, I go out to see Rambo with the gf (which is an awesome movie btw), and as we're driving out of the mall we see this big pickup towing a boat sitting half pulled into the entrance. As though the driver can't decide if he wants to go into the mall or abort and pull back on to the main road. Kinda odd but nothing to do with me so I pull up to the stop sign and start trying to see around the truck, when it pulls forward and the guy starts yelling and motioning for me to roll my window down.

"Does this place have a borders!!" He screams over the sound of traffic and his diesel engine.

"No it has a books a million" I yell back hoping he can hear me, I almost never raise my voice and when I try to people rarely seem to be able to hear or understand me.

He shakes his head, "Thats what I meant thanks!!" he yells waiving thanks before pulling into the mall and blasting his 18 wheeler-esc horn twice in what I imagine was thanks.

So that was... kinda odd, I mean what could a guy, towing a boat possibly need with a book store at 11pm on friday? Did he kill his wife and was looking for some kind of crime scene book to clean up the evidence or was he trying to find a book on sailing? (Which also still works with the killing his wife angle) Was he looking for some clue in a scavenger hunt? Or was it as the gf said piece of vital info that he would use the save the world and thanks to us the earth is still as it should be? I don't know, but either way Rambo rocked and the boat guy was weird.

Not dead yet

So been a while since I last updated. Not much going on, got a new job, then another one, it sucks but at least it gives me a lot of free time (only work 2 days a week). Other than that...probably going to be taking a huge trip soon, some starting some time in august and going till september or so, will be traveling from here up to canada and then back down so a big square around north america.

Lets see other than that...
I finally watched some scrubs, working on season 6 now. Saw 300, Hot Fuzz and 28 weeks later which all kicked ass. I also read happy cruelty day, very funny and very wrong. And picked up a new laptop to amuse my self at work and for the trip. yay.

now go away.

mooninites v the people of boston

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUaQVZHzyI&eurl=

Ever since one of the call centers I worked at took calls form boston I've never really cared for the people of boston. Most are rude, self important asses. And apparently we can add stupid to the list as well.
